How much of India's SDG data is actually current

You cannot manage what you cannot measure, and a large share of the goals are measured with numbers several years old.

India's National Indicator Framework lists the indicators used to track the goals. For each one there is a source, a periodicity and a latest available year — and for a substantial number, that year is well behind the present.

This is the least glamorous topic on the platform and arguably the most important one, because every other page depends on it. Publishing the vintage of the data is the same discipline as publishing the data.

How we handle gaps

Where a source has not reported for a recent year, the gap is shown as a gap. We do not interpolate to make a series look continuous or a map look complete. Where two agencies publish different figures for the same thing, both appear and we say which is which.
